Three Malibu Candidates Qualify for SMMUSD School Board Election

Malibu residents Karen Farrer, Seth Jacobson, and Craig Foster will take on Santa Monica residents Board President Ben Allen, member Jose Escarce, and member Maria Leon-Vasquez.

Three candidates from Malibu for the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School Board of Education have qualified to make it onto the ballot for the Nov. 6, 2012 election.

Malibu residents Karen Farrer, Seth Jacobson, and Craig Foster will be up against three incumbent candidates from Santa Monica. Those incumbents are Board President Ben Allen, member Jose Escarce, and member Maria Leon-Vasquez, according to the Santa Monica Mirror.

Each candidate had to obtain a minimum of 100 valid signatures from registered voters in Santa Monica and Malibu.

Farrer, Jacobson and Foster have said they are running to bring excellence back to all schools in the SMMUSD.

"We’re running for everybody, not just for Malibu," Jacobson said.
