Topanga Canyon Shut Down As Region Braces For Dangerously Dry, Windy Conditions
Topanga Canyon Boulevard will be shut down in anticipation of winds gusts of up to 80 mph this week.

TOPANGA, CA — As the region braces for dangerously dry and windy weather this week, authorities have shut down Topanga Canyon Boulevard to most traffic in anticipation of Red Flag fire conditions.
Topanga Canyon Boulevard will be shut down between Pacific Coast Highway and Mulholland Drive from noon Monday until 6 p.m. Wednesday. Only residents and local businesses will be allowed in the canyon, according to Caltrans.
Windy conditions are expected to peak late Monday into Tuesday afternoon. A so-called Particularly Dangerous Situation Red Flag warning is in effect from 10 p.m. Monday to 2 p.m. Tuesday for parts of Los Angeles County, including the Santa Monica Mountains.

A normal Red Flag warning is in effect until 6 p.m. Wednesday.
The National Weather Service forecasts winds of up to 40 mph with gusts between 60 to 80 mph at the peak of the Santa Ana wind event.

Humidity levels could fall to as low as 5%, with some isolated areas dropping to 2%.
