MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — Two more candidates have officially joined the fray for three available Manhattan Beach City Council seats on Nov. 3rd. Incumbent Richard Montgomery and Joe Franklin are the two latest contenders to have their candidacy verified by Los Angeles County, the final step enabling them to run.

Montgomery, presently mayor, and Franklin enter a race with incumbent Steve Napolitano, and candidates Grettel Fournell and Mark Burton. Current council member Nancy Hersman is not running for a second term. Now, there are five candidates vying for three seats.

Chaz Flemmings, who turned in his materials to LA County once and was told some of his voter signatures were not registered for the addresses the individuals provided, was busy securing signatures yesterday. He also informed the nine people whose signatures were kicked back that they should look to make sure they are correctly registered to vote in the Nov. 3rd election, something he was not required to do but did as a courtesy.
