South Bay Brewery Hosting 'Barktoberfest' Event With Animal Welfare Nonprofit

The event will feature several activities, including a wiener dog race where entry fees will be donated to spcaLA.

HAWTHORNE, CA — A South Bay brewery will be hosting a fundraising event this Sunday, where some proceeds will go towards a local animal nonprofit.

"Barktoberfest" at Common Space Brewery will feature vendors, pottery classes, caricatures and wiener dog races, according to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles (spcaLA), a nonprofit animal welfare organization that serves the Southern California community.

The money raised from the wiener dog race entry fees will be donated to the nonprofit. There will also be vendors, such as PawcketTreats, Lola's Bits o'Love and MiWowWow.

"Common Space is a great fixture in the Yukon/El Segundo neighborhood," a spcaLA spokesperson told Patch. "They have a great community and we are so appreciative that they invited us to participate. It gives us a chance to reach out to people who may be interested in adoptions, volunteering, or donations."

Common Space Brewery is dog-friendly and allows all "well-behaved, non-aggressive, leashed dogs," a spcaLA spokesperson said.

The event is part of the brewery's Oktoberfest weekend. There will be another event Saturday, featuring German Lagers, games, live music and the chicken dance, according to the brewery.
