Body Of Missing Woman Found In Sand In Manhattan Beach

The woman's boyfriend said he saw her near the waterline before she disappeared.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — The body of a woman who was reported missing early Friday morning was found on the sand at Manhattan Beach, authorities said.

At about 6:41 a.m., the Manhattan Beach Police Department was dispatched to the 2300 block of The Strand to investigate a missing person report. When officers arrived, a man told police that he last saw his girlfriend at the water line before she disappeared.

“The reporting party and his friends searched for the female, and when they could not find her, they called MBPD,” police said in a statement.

MBPD, Los Angeles County Lifeguards and the United States Coast Guard immediately began investigating the beach and the ocean.

At about 10:13 a.m. LACo Lifeguards notified police that they found a woman’s body in the sand near the 1300 block of the waterline.

Officers and her family were able to identify her as the woman who was reported missing. The woman’s exact cause of death was unknown.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone who may have additional information was urged to contact MBPD at 310-802-5123.
