MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — The following is the most recent Manhattan Beach Police Department crime summary.

From June 13 to 19 there were:

  • 707 calls for service
  • 17 arrests
  • 16 traffic collisions
  • 48 crime reports taken

  • On June 13, police responded to a fight between teens at a party in the 1600 block of Wendy Way. Partygoers told police that one juvenile showed up to a party uninvited and assaulted another person before leaving. Officers contacted the suspect and cited him for battery before releasing him to his parents.
  • On June 15, Manhattan Beach police discovered an abandoned vehicle on the Greenbelt near Valley Drive and Sepulveda Boulevard. Within 30 minutes, police received four burglary calls in the area, with one confirmed and three attempted. MBPD enlisted the help of neighboring South Bay agencies to establish a perimeter but were unable to locate any suspects. The vehicle was impounded as evidence and the investigation is ongoing.
  • On June 15, officers received a report of a theft at Macy's in the 3400 block of Sepulveda Boulevard. According to police, three juvenile suspects entered the store, took trash bags out of their backpacks and started putting fragrances inside. The group ran out of the Macy's and across the street to the Chevron station, where they were found and detained by police. The stolen fragrances, which were valued at more than $1,000, were returned and all three suspects were arrested for grand theft and organized retail theft. Each suspect was transported to the MBPD jail before they were cited and released to their parents.
  • on June 19, Police received a report of a strange unidentified item with plastic and wires sticking out of it in the 4300 block of The Strand. Police determined that the item potentially contained batteried from a discarded e-bike.
