MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — The following is the most recent Manhattan Beach Police Department crime summary.

From Aug 8 to 14 there were:

  • 871 calls for service
  • 10 arrests
  • 14 traffic collisions
  • 41 crime reports taken

  • On Aug. 14 a driver stopped their car in the 3300 block of Pacific Avenue when they noticed they had a flat tire. While changing the tire out, the driver heard their car door open and another person enter the car. The suspect stole several electronics before running to an awaiting vehicle and fleeing. No additional information was available.
  • On Aug. 9, police responded to Macy's to investigate a burglary that happened the night before. According to a witness, a suspect was walking around the building trying door handles while pushing a trashcan. The suspect entered the electrical room and came back out with a fire extinguisher. The suspect then attempted to shatter the door to Macy's by throwing the fire extinguisher at it but was unsuccessful, according to MBPD. Nothing was stolen and the suspect left.
  • On Aug. 11, police responded to a tripped burglary alarm at the Baskin Robbins in the 900 block of North Sepulveda Boulevard. Police arrived to find a shattered window and evidence that somebody had entered the building. A staff member determined that nothing was stolen from the business and the store owner is reviewing security footage, police said.
