• DUI Suspect Charged Months After High School Tennis Star’s Death In Manhattan Beach (patch.com) — Manhattan Beach residents are learning that a Los Angeles woman has now been charged with murder and other felonies months after police say she struck and killed 18-year-old tennis standout Braun Levi in the city. Authorities allege she was driving drunk on a suspended license when the May crash occurred, and Levi’s family, who resettled in the South Bay after losing their home in a wildfire, has also filed a major civil lawsuit. 
• Manhattan Beach Gets Closer To Temporarily Allowing Short-Term Rentals Citywide (patch.com) — Manhattan Beach officials are moving toward a temporary citywide allowance of short-term rentals in 2026 to handle lodging demand from World Cup matches at nearby SoFi Stadium. The council narrowly directed staff to draft a trial ordinance with strict time limits, caps on operators, and a focus on collecting hotel taxes while monitoring neighborhood impacts before deciding whether to repeat the move for the 2028 Olympics.
• Viral ‘door kick' TikTok trend spirals out of control: teens face felonies, homeowners could fight back (nypost.com) — Manhattan Beach parents should know police here have already warned about a dangerous TikTok “door kick” prank after a July incident where someone damaged a local home’s front door and fled. Officers say that while it’s the only case they’ve seen, similar incidents nationwide are leading to arrests and could provoke violent confrontations if startled homeowners think they’re under attack.
