COUNTY TO REQUIRE VACCINATION VERIFICATION FOR BARS, WINERIES, BREWERIES, NIGHTCLUBS, AND MEGA EVENTS

Manhattan Beach, CA (September 21, 2021) - The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (DPH) has modified the Health Officer Order requiring COVID-19 vaccine verification of at least one dose by October 7 and both by November 4 prior to entering select high-risk settings, including indoor bars, wineries, breweries, nightclubs, and lounges.
Beginning November 4, 2021, such establishments must require customers to provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 for entry into the indoor service. Customers who do not provide proof of vaccination may be served in the outdoor portions of the facility, where the risk of exposure to the virus is less likely than when indoors. Los Angeles County has also aligned with the Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) guidance to require vaccination verification or a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours prior to attending outdoor mega events (consisting of crowds over 10,000 people). Attendees at indoor mega events are already required to show proof of vaccination or a negative test prior to entry. Self-attestation is not a permitted method for verification of vaccination or test result.

While not required, DPH also recommends vaccine verification at indoor portions of restaurants to reduce transmission risk.
