Dedicated Police Dog Retires From Manhattan Beach Police

During the German Shepherd's time with MBPD, Koa helped officers locate and seize over 2,500 pounds of narcotics.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — After seven years of service with the Manhattan Beach Police Department, K-9 Koa has retired.

During the German Shepherd's time serving the South Bay, Koa was deployed over 150 times and assisted with numerous felony arrests. Koa also helped MBPD locate and seize over 2,500 pounds of narcotics and over $1 million related to narcotics trafficking.

"We wish Koa a healthy and relaxing retirement with Officer Gibbons and his family," MBPD said on Facebook.
