The demolition is scheduled to take about 40 working days, after which the area will become a temporary at-grade parking lot.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — Demolition of Manhattan beach's parking structure Lot 3 is scheduled to commence this week, according to city officials.
As the demolition takes place, portions of 12th Street between Morningside Drive and the wester end of the structure will be closed. The demolition is scheduled to take about 40 working days, after which the area will become a temporary at-grade parking lot.
“As we commence this important project, we reaffirm our commitment to safety and enhancing the downtown experience for both residents and visitors,” said Mayor Amy Howorth. “The actions the City is taking lay the groundwork for a more accessible and vibrant Manhattan Beach. We want our community to know that we are here for you every step of the way, and we appreciate your patience as we work to improve our infrastructure.”

Recently, the city opened up new public parking spaces within the Downtown area to alleviate some of the congestion caused by the loss of parking. Installation of the spaces is currently taking place and should be done in the near future, city officials said.
To accommodate the demolition, the Tuesday Downtown Manhattan Beach Farmers market will been temporarily relocated to the Civic Center upper parking lot and plaza at 320 15th St. starting Oct. 29.
