MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — The Roundhouse Aquarium on the Manhattan Beach Pier is inviting the community to experience the King Tide firsthand this weekend.
The term "King Tide" is used to describe very high tides caused when there is alignment of the gravitational pull between the sun, moon and Earth. The high tides occur naturally and are predictable, according to the California Coastal Commission.
"Team up with the Roundhouse Aquarium to document the powerful impact of the King Tide. Your participation will contribute to the California Coastal Commission’s King Tide Project," the Roundhouse Aquarium said in a statement.
