Seven candidates are running for three Manhattan Beach City Council seats in the Nov. 3rd election. Phoebe Lyons and Chaz Flemmings are the latest two to be verified by Los Angeles County. They enter a field of incumbents Richard Montgomery and Steve Napolitano, former City Council member Mark Burton and Grettel Fournell and Joe Franklin.

"I am thrilled to be entering the City Council race this year," said Lyons. "I am anticipating some lively conversations with members of the community and my fellow candidates. It's time we heard from some fresh voices in our city."

Flemmings, whose initial paperwork was kicked back due to some unverifiable voter signatures, successfully gathered the necessary number of signatures that corresponded with a voter's name and correct address. He had to start anew in his signature gathering effort when Los Angeles County declined his paperwork. "It's great to be officially on the ballot for the November race. I'm humbled to be able to move forward in the process," he told Manhattan Beach Patch.

Lyons, at 22 the youngest candidate among the seven, said, "My website is phoebeformb.com and I encourage any and all Manhattan Beach residents to reach out to me by email at campaign@phoebeformb.com.

"COVID-19 is certainly making the campaign more interesting and my team is actively looking into ways to connect with residents safely. We will be holding some virtual meet and greets in the future and are exploring other options as well. Stay tuned!" she advised.

"I can't wait to have our debates in a virtual forum," said Flemmings. "I hope different organizations will conduct some online forums such as the Manhattan Beach Rotary Club, Manhattan Beach Chamber Of Commerce (Downtown Manhattan), The Manhattan Beach Residents' Forum (Facebook), The Neptunian Woman's Club, and many other great Manhattan Beach organizations.

Flemmings is "working on finishing my website but i want people to feel free to email and to call or text me at (310) 796-6325. My website will be www.chazflemmings.com."
