Free Shuttle Transports Riders To Downtown Manhattan Beach

To make up for the closure of Lot 3, the City of Manhattan Beach is offering a free shuttle service to the downtown area.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — The City of Manhattan Beach established a temporary shuttle service to make up for the lost parking due to the closure of Lot 3 downtown.

The free service conveniently transports riders from Pacific Elementary School to downtown Manhattan Beach. The shuttle runs every 20 minutes from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday through Sunday.

"We encourage everyone to take advantage of this convenient option to reduce carbon emissions and alleviate parking challenges downtown," city officials said in a statement.

  • 10th Street and Manhattan Avenue
  • City Hall

Parking Lot 3 was built in 1971 before modern building codes that include crucial seismic safety measures were enforced. A 2022 seismic assessment found that both the second and third levels of the structure weren't up to standards.

The parking lot will be completely replaced, according to the city, but there is no official timeline for when construction will begin.
