New Public Parking Rates Are Coming To Santa Monica: What To Know
The city plans to implement the new rates starting Jan. 12, officials say.
SANTA MONICA, CA — Santa Monica will soon have new public parking rates to encourage longer stays, city officials announced Monday.
The city plans to implement the new rates, “designed to make pricing easier to understand and encourage Downtown visitors to stay longer and pay less,” starting Jan. 12, officials said.
“Downtown parking structures will go from a nine-tier pricing model to a simplified three-tier model,” officials said.

Once visitors pass the three-hour mark, officials said the price will increase from $10 to $12, depending on the parking lot. The cost, however, will cap at a maximum of $22 at the five-hour mark.
The city also offers monthly parking permits, which will decrease in cost by 20 percent, according to officials.
“All beach lots and meters will see a small increase, while ADA parking at parking meters will remain free,” officials said.
