MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — The following is the most recent Manhattan Beach Police Department crime summary.

From May 23 to 29 there were:

  • 863 calls for service
  • 14 arrests
  • 17 traffic collisions
  • 39 crime reports taken

  • On May 25 suspects entered an unlocked garage at a home in the 2300 block of Highland Avenue and stole two e-bikes, police said.
  • On May 26, police responded to reports of juveniles on top of the 8th Street water tower. When police arrived they watched the kids descend the tower and flee. One of the juveniles was detained and cited for violations and was then released to his parent. Two e-bikes were taken for safekeeping, MBPD said.
  • On May 26 a suspect stole $1,400 worth of medication from the Von's supermarket. According to police, the suspect told the reporting party, "Have a blessed day" after exiting the store.
  • On May 28, police arrested a suspect in connection to a theft at Old Navy. About 40 minutes after the suspect was released from the MBPD jail that same day, the same suspect was rearrested in connection to a theft at Von's. Police issued a citation to the man and the stolen items were returned to Von's.
