The Redondo Beach team's costume—which included a foam "shell" and crocheted antennae—was one of 10 finalists. The grand prize was awarded to Wyckoff, N.J. resident Jack Hagan's "Headless Boy" costume.

The finalists each get to designate a charity that will receive $1,031; Richards chose Shane's Inspiration, a charity that builds handicapped-accessible playgrounds throughout Southern California. In addition to the monetary donation to a charity of their choice, the Grand Prize winner will receive a trip to Los Angeles or New York City to meet with Heidi Klum.
