Man in Custody After Lead Police on Chase in Stolen Caltrans Truck Through Manhattan Beach

Daniel Perez, 25​, of Inglewood allegedly stole the truck outside of Manhattan Beach and was chased into the city by the CHP.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — An Inglewood man was in custody Thursday after leading police on a chase in a stolen Caltrans pickup truck through Manhattan Beach and Hawthorne Wednesday.

Daniel Perez, 25, of Inglewood, allegedly stole the truck outside of Manhattan Beach was engaged in a chase at around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday with the California Highway Patrol before MBPD took over and followed Perez into Hawthorne, Manhattan Beach police Sgt. Tim Zins said told the Daily Breeze.

A Manhattan Beach officer used a PIT maneuver to force Perez to stop, he said. Perez allegedly refused to surrender or keep his hand up and that was when police broke the truck's window and subdued him with bean bag rounds.

Perez was held on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle, evading arrest and resisting arrest.
