Man Mysteriously Dies In Hot Tub In Manhattan Beach

County authorities said additional testing and investigation is required to determine the man's cause of death.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — The body of a 67-year-old man was discovered in a hot tub in Manhattan Beach, police announced over the weekend.

At about 11:02 a.m. on Jan. 19, officers received a report in the 1400 block of 11th Street for medical aid because the man was unresponsive in a hot tub.

"Resuscitation efforts by community members and first responders were unsuccessful and the male was pronounced deceased at the scene," MBPD said in a statement.

MBPD detectives and the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner/Coroner were called to the scene to investigate the man's death. As of Monday, the man's cause of death was deferred, meaning additional testing and investigation are required to determine the cause.

Authorities identified the man as Douglas Aziz, a resident of Manhattan Beach.
