Man, Woman Arrested in Manhattan Beach Verizon Store Armed Robbery

The robbery happened nearly a year ago and police were only able to make the arrests last week.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA -- Two suspects accused of stealing a number of iPhones from a Manhattan Beach Verizon store nearly a year ago were arrested last week, police said. A third suspect is still on the loose.

The robbery took place Jan. 16 at the Verizon store in the 1700 block of Artesia Boulevard, Manhattan Beach police Sgt. Paul Ford

Two gunmen entered the store shortly after it opened and held a female clerk at gunpoint, according to Ford. The suspects stole several iPhones and fled the location in a car driven by a third suspect. The clerk was not injured during the robbery.

One of the suspected gunmen was identified as Fernando Andalon-Alvarez, 22, of Torrance and the suspected getaway driver was identified as Rebeca Garcia-Aquino, 21, of Lawndale, Ford said.

Detectives eventually identified one of the alleged gunmen, 22-year-old Fernando Andalon-Alvarez, and the suspected getaway driver, 21-year-old Rebeca Garcia-Aquino, according to Ford. He didn't elaborate on how police come to identify the suspects.

The pair were arrested last week and booked on suspicion of armed robbery. Both posted $50,000 bail each and were released. A court date is pending.

Detectives are still searching for the other gunman who entered the store, Ford said.
