Manhattan Beach Burglar Gets Probation After No Contest Plea
Torreon Johnson, 28, of Los Angeles, holed up in a house in the 600 block of North Ardmore earlier this month once police, SWAT arrived.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — Defendant Torreon Johnson, who was arrested by Manhattan Beach Police on August 2, entered a no contest plea to residential burglary and was sentenced to 5 years formal felony probation, 36 days county jail, 30 days community service, $300 restitution fine, court operations fee, criminal conviction fee, probation revocation fee, search and seizure conditions, and firearms/weapons prohibition, the Manhattan Beach Police Department said in a news release today.
The 28-year-old Los Angeles resident was arrested after he attempted to flee a house he'd barricaded himself inside of in the 600 block of North Ardmore Avenue. MBPD had responded to an audible burglar alarm and surrounded the home after seeing a man inside frantically trying to hide. A police helicopter, police officers from multiple area departments, K9 units and SWAT were called to aid in the suspect's apprehension.
Once caught after attempting to flee out the front door, Johnson told police he had an accomplice inside who wanted to shoot it out with police because he didn't want to go back to jail. Johnson even gave police a man's name. After several hours and contacting police in Texas, MBPD ultimately determined Johnson had lied to them.
