Manhattan Beach Mom/Business Owner Raising Funds To Help Staffer

The manager of Rock It Pilates lost her dad in a boating accident and Kaci Bacher is stepping up to help by starting a GoFundMe page.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — Manhattan Beach resident and business owner Kaci Bacher has launched a GoFundMe page to provide financial assistance to the young woman who manages her Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach Rock It Pilates locations.

Cameron Paulson and her mother Denise are dealing with the sudden tragic death of Cameron's dad, Mark Paulson, who was never found after placing a 9-1-1 call while fishing from his boat, saying it was adrift near Torrance. The US Coast Guard and Redondo Beach Harbor Patrol searched for Paulson to no avail.

Writes Bacher, on the GoFundMe page, "Mark was funny and so full of life. Growing up as a surfer and a swimmer, he was born and raised in the South Bay with the ocean being one of his favorite and most familiar places. He worked for the City of Torrance for over 20 years and was the sole provider for his family. He is survived by his wife Denise and daughter Cameron.

"RockIt Body considers Cameron (fabulous instructor and customer service maven) and her mother Denise family and we are committed to helping them in every way possible. Although nothing will ever fill the hole in their hearts, we are coordinating this fundraiser to help ease the financial burden of memorializing Mark and provide some financial security during this challenging time.

"Let’s wrap our arms around the Paulson family with generous donations as finances are the last thing any family should have to worry about with the loss of a loved one."

Mark Paulson was feted by the City of Torrance and the Torrance Water Commission after he and three other Torrance Municipal Water employees knocked down a fire in May 2018 that was threatening to burn a home on Crest Road. Out at a work site, they noticed that downed power lines had caused two fires. The four men worked together to prevent the residence form being severely damaged and possible total loss until the Torrance Fire Department arrived. TFD also commended the men for their efforts. They were honored at a June 2019 meeting.

The GoFundMe page has 93 donors thus far who have contributed $6,800 out of a goal of $50,000.
