Manhattan Beach Police Warn Of Telephone Scam
The suspects say they are with the Manhattan Beach Police Department, and are claiming residents will be arrested if they don't send money.
MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — The Manhattan Beach Police Department warned residents Monday of a telephone scam involving the department.
Several people have complained to MBPD about the scam, in which suspects are calling from (424) 301-6278 and are claiming to be one of MBPD's police captains.
The suspects say they are with the Manhattan Beach Police Department, and are claiming residents will be arrested if they don’t send them money, the press release said.

"This is a scam. Do not send money, gift cards or anything they are asking for," MBPD said. "The Manhattan Beach Police Department will never call you telling you to send money or else you'll be incarcerated."
MBPD cannot stop these scammers from calling, so "please immediately block their phone numbers," police said.

"Again, this is a SCAM. Do not send them money, gift cards or anything else," MBPD emphasized.
