Mattel's 'Wicked' Misprint On Packaging Directs Customers To Porn Site
Packaging on the limited-edition "Wicked" dolls from Mattel led fans to an 18+ website rather than the film's official site.

EL SEGUNDO, CA — Fans purchasing Mattel's newly launched "Wicked" dolls were shocked to find a web address that led to a pornographic site printed on the packaging.
Instead of leading customers to the official website of the film adaptation of the Tony Award-winning musical, WickedMovie.com, the information on the packaging led to a page that required users to be 18 years old or older to enter.
“Mattel was made aware of a misprint on the packaging of the Mattel Wicked collection dolls, primarily sold in the US, which intended to direct consumers to the official WickedMovie.com landing page,” the South Bay company announced in a statement.

Mattel advised people who already purchased the dolls to discard the packaging or cover up the link.
“We deeply regret this unfortunate error and are taking immediate action to remedy this. Parents are advised that the misprinted, incorrect website is not appropriate for children,” the company announced.

The dolls depict some of the musical's main characters, including Ariana Grande as Galinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba. Some of the dolls available can sing, come with accessories and are able to do a variety of poses, according to the Mattel website.
The doll line was pulled from shelves of retailers and online storefronts including Walmart, Macy's, Target and Amazon as of Monday. It's unknown whether Mattel will reprint and redistribute the dolls to stores.
Part one of "Wicked" will begin showing in theaters on Nov. 22 and the second part is set to be release in November 2025.
