MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — The following is the most recent Manhattan Beach Police Department crime summary.

From July 4 to 10 there were:

  • 888 calls for service
  • 9 arrests
  • 14 traffic collisions
  • 38 crime reports taken

  • On July 4, police responded to a report of a theft at Target. Employees told police that a suspect filled their cart with merchandise and left the store without paying and loaded everything into their car. Responding officers were able to stop the vehicle before it left the parking lot. Both occupants were arrested on suspicion of grand theft and drug-related charges, MBPD said.
  • A resident reported a burglary at their home in the 100 block of 45th Street on July 5. A neighbor told the resident her garage door was open and they discovered an e-bike and its charger were missing. The investigation is ongoing, police said.
  • On July 6, police responded to a fire alarm notification at a classroom at Manhattan Beach Middle School. The Manhattan Beach Fire Department was at the scene when police arrived and said they found several broken windows and a couple of bandaids that were set on fire. The school manager told MBPD that she saw a male juvenile near the classroom, but he had left the area with another boy on an e-bike. The investigation is ongoing.
