Thieves Arrested At Apple Store: Manhattan Beach Crime Summary

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — The following is the most recent Manhattan Beach Police Department crime summary.
From Aug 22 to 28 there were:
- 780 calls for service
- 22 arrests

- On Aug. 24, a property manager told police that a burglary had happened in the carport of the apartment building he lives in. According to the property manager, the suspects walked out of the carport carrying several items before fleeing the scene in a white truck. Tenants of the apartment building were notified about the incident and all stated that nothing of theirs was taken. At about 5 a.m., police in Hermosa Beach located the white truck as it was driving in the area of Pacific Coast Highway and Pier Avenue. The truck was later abandoned in the city and the suspects were not found.
- Two suspects were arrested at the Apple Store after a grand theft was reported. Officers responded to the Apple Store on Aug. 23 after staff told them a suspect was concealing items and leaving the store without paying. Security at the store told police they recognized the suspect from previous thefts. A second suspect was identified and both individuals were arrested for organized retail theft, MBPD said.
- On Aug. 25, police responded to the 1600 block of Marine Avenue after receiving reports of a commercial burglary. A Parks and Recreation employee told police they discovered their clubhouse checkout stand was ransacked and a window was shattered. Investigators discovered a drop of dried blood on the interior window shade and collected the drop as evidence. No property appeared to be missing, police said.
