MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — The following is the most recent Manhattan Beach Police Department crime summary.

From Sept. 5 to 11 there were:

  • 893 calls for service
  • 19 arrests
  • 24 traffic collisions
  • 44 crime reports taken

  • On Sept.7, police responded to 6th Street and Manhattan Avenue after receiving a report of a robbery. The victim told officers that while he was loading his car, a black SUV with five people inside stopped nearby. Two people got out of the SUV and attempted to start a fight with the victim before assaulting him and stealing his necklace. During the fight, one of the suspects dropped a switchblade, police said. The victim ran after the suspects as they fled, but then the remaining three suspects inside the SUV got out and assaulted the man a second time. Officers located the stolen necklace and the investigation is ongoing.
  • On Sept. 11, a man called police after he was robbed of his briefcase and assaulted on the 1300 block of Parkview Avenue. According to police, the man was walking through a parking lot carrying a briefcase when he noticed a black SUV parked near the back of his car. The man was then pushed to the ground and a suspect grabbed his briefcase and jumped into the vehicle. The suspects fled the location.
