Tour De Pier Returns This Weekend. Here's What To Know
The annual cancer fundraising event will take over the Manhattan Beach Pier on Sunday.
MAHATTAN BEACH, CA — An annual cancer fundraising event returns this weekend to Manhattan Beach, bringing hundreds of stationary bicycle riders city's pier and prompting some street closures. Here's what to know.
Tour De Pier began in 2013 and raises more than a million dollars each year that goes toward finding a cure for cancer, according to the event's organizers.
The event involves instructors, entertainers and celebrity guests leading stationary bike riders on five one-hour spin sessions on Manhattan Beach's Pier, giving riders a scenic ocean view.

It also includes a Health & Fitness Expo featuring local and national businesses, Los Angeles-area sports teams, healthy foods and beverages, interactive booths and a Kids Zone with tot-sized stationary bikes and moon bounces, according to organizers.
Manhattan Beach city officials said all pier parking lots would be closed for the Tour de Pier from 6 a.m. Saturday to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Manhattan Avenue from Manhattan Beach Boulevard to Center Place, along with Manhattan Beach Boulevard from the Strand to Manhattan Avenue, will also be closed Sunday from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Tour De Pier organizers recommend using a bike, skateboard or rideshare to arrive at the event. A complimentary bike valet will be available next to the Expo and will open at 8 a.m. and close at 2 p.m.
Anyone looking to drive will have to find metered street parking, use a public parking lot in Downtown Manhattan Beach or park at the Metlox Plaza. For more parking lot info, click here.
