Vibrant Art Installation Wows Manhattan Village Patrons

The nine panels adorn the Manhattan Village outdoor plaza.

MANHATTAN BEACH — A stunning art installation adorns the walls along the plaza at the newly renovated Manhattan Village. The nine panels, created by artist and award-winning photographer Brent Broza, replace empty-store fronts.

"I was approached by Manhattan Village General Manager Don Ziss and asked what I could do to artistically enhance these outdoor barriers," Broza told Patch. "I knew I had just what they needed, my blur series."

Ziss agreed and moved forward with the project. "We know how important community is to the South Bay, and we're honored to be able to partner with a local artist for this installation," Ziss told Patch.

Broza's Fireline and Serenity photographic blur series are comprised of sunset and sunrise photos that he's been shooting for the past 1o years.

"My Serenity images feature soft, pastel colors; while Fireline photos are bright and vibrant, like a fiery sunset," Broza said. "When I sent them my proposal, they loved it."

Fully installed, the images are 40 feet wide by 15 feet high. "One measures 90 by 15," Broza said.

Broza has received much praise for his work. After posting a photo of his work on Instagram, he received comments like: "stunning work," "amazing vibe, and "so cool!"

Originally from Manhattan Beach, Broza says he's honored to represent the City in this manner. "I grew up here and hung out at the mall before its renovation," he said. "It's a part of my childhood."

Broza's work will next be featured at Culture Brewing in Downtown Manhattan Beach where he will be the May Artist of the Month.
