Waiters Will Be Wearing Badges at Tin Roof Bistro Wednesday

The fundraiser lets you tip a cop and raise money for Special Olympics.

From a press release:

Diners at the Tin Roof Bistro in Manhattan Beach will enjoy an extra level of service from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8 when police officers and professional staff from the Manhattan Beach Police Department partner with the restaurant’s staff for the annual “Tip-A-Cop” fundraiser.

The evening is intended to not only provide guests with a memorable dining experience and exceptional service, but to also collect tips and donations to benefit South Bay Special Olympics’ athletes. All tips are a tax-deductible donation to Special Olympics, which provides athletic training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities in the South Bay Area.

“Tip-A-Cop” is a fun and entertaining way for our community to meet their local police officers and Special Olympics Athletes. “At Tin Roof Bistro, we are always looking for ways to stay deeply rooted within our community. This is a wonderful event that benefits a great cause and great people. We are honored to be a part of it”, commented Julian King (General Manager, Tin Roof Bistro).

Chief of Police Eve Irvine said, “The Manhattan Beach Police Department is excited to continue our partnership with Special Olympics and help raise awareness and funding for this amazing organization and the awesome athletes who participate. By uniting with Tin Roof Bistro, in hosting a Tip-A-Cop event, we can go above and beyond in these efforts in showing our support to Special Olympics.”

The Law Enforcement Torch Run® (LETR) is another event that supports Special Olympics. The LETR is the largest grassroots fundraising effort benefiting Special Olympics, and the Manhattan Beach Police Department has been a participant for many years. In 2013, the Manhattan Beach Police Department’s Tip-A-Cop event raised just over $14,000. Through the LETR campaign, Special Olympics has brought Tip-A-Cops, Polar Plunges, Marathons, and just recently a Plane Pull to the local area.
