3 Injured in LAPD Cruiser Crash in Marina del Rey

Police officers were responding to a call about a woman wielding a knife.

Two Los Angeles police officers and a civilian motorist were treated for pain and released from hospitals after a police cruiser crashed into a BMW and a taxi in Marina del Rey, police said.

The crash happened on Mindanao Way near the Marina (90) Freeway at 8:38
p.m. Sunday as officers were responding to a call about a woman with a knife,
said Sgt. Kara Nightingale of the Los Angeles Police Department's West Traffic
Division.

The officers and the BMW driver complained of pain and were transported to hospitals to be checked out and treated, added Sgt. C. Clark, also of the traffic division. The taxi driver and the taxi passenger apparently were not injured, Nightingale said.

Another unit from the LAPD's Pacific Station responded to the call about a knife-wielding woman fighting with a woman who was on a bicycle, said Lt. Marco Munoz of the LAPD's Pacific Station.

The site of the fight turned out to have been not in Los Angeles but in Marina del Rey, and by the time Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies arrived, the women were gone, Munoz said.
