Sunny Afternoons, Saving Fuel and Beach Volleyball

The National Weather Service says it should be sunny this afternoon with fog Tuesday morning followed by sunny skies.

Today is June 20. It is the 171st day of the year. We are under a waning gibbous moon. Sunset will occur about 8:09 p.m. Here are five things to know:

1. The National Weather Service forecast for this afternoon calls for sunny skies with a high near 66 degrees with patchy fog after 11 p.m. and an overnight low around 59 degrees. Forecasters expect patchy fog Tuesday morning and gradual clearing with sunny skies in the afternoon and a high near 69 degrees.

Former collegiate and professional basketball star Kelly Schumacher recently made the transition to professional beach volleyball and now the Playa del Rey resident has her first volleyball tournament title. Schumacher and partner Angela Bryan won the women's open division over the weekend at the California Beach Volleyball Association tournament at the Manhattan Beach Pier. More details right here.
