Fall celebrations are the highlight of the spooky season and the Marina Del Rey area is teeming with events for the whole family to enjoy.

MARINA DEL REY, CA — Fall is a great time to get outside in California and take in the rich offering of festivals.

The changing colors of autumn provide a scenic background for fall and harvest festivals, which have contests ranging from apple bobbing and pumpkin carving to lumberjack contests and Halloween parades.

Fall is also the season for corn mazes, pumpkin patches, Oktoberfests, scary Halloween celebrations and apple orchard visits.

Here are three festivals and events in the Marina del Rey area worth putting on the calendar:

  • Haunted Blood Vessel Cruise
    • This vampire-themed cruise is a Halloween yacht party in Marina Del Rey's harbor that will feature two of LA's best DJs. The event takes place on Oct. 29 starting at 8 p.m. and includes VIP experiences.
  • Garden Halloween Haunt in Venice
    • On Oct. 29 starting at 3 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. visitors of The Cook's Garden can celebrate the changing seasons through art, workshops and great food.
