5 Displaced In Christmas Morning Fire
The fire at a three-story Martinez building broke out at 8:44 a.m. on Christmas.

MARTINEZ, CA — Five people were displaced Christmas morning when a fire broke out at a Martinez apartment building.
The fire in the 3900 block of Alhambra Avenue was reported at 8:44 a.m. Monday as three cars caught fire in the carport and the blaze extended up into the building, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District Capt. Victor Daniel told Patch.
The fire, which traveled to the second and third floors of the building, was extinguished at 9:21 a.m., Daniel said.

Crews remained on scene for several hours doing mop-up and making sure no hotspots re-ignited.
No injuries were reported.

The displaced residents received assistance from the American Red Cross.
As of Wednesday night, investigators had not determined the cause of the fire, Daniel said.
