• Council Finalizes Deal With Proposed Marina Developer (patch.com) — Martinez officials have taken a big step toward overhauling the aging marina, approving an exclusive negotiating agreement with Tucker Sadler Architects for a privately financed, two-year planning process. The proposal envisions new slips, seawall repairs, hotels, restaurants, and public spaces, with the developer covering costs and the city expecting to save on operations while gaining future tax revenue. Residents will have chances to weigh in as designs are refined. 
• Martinez woman was pregnant when mom stabbed her in the stomach, homicide investigators say (mercurynews.com) — A 19-year-old Martinez resident who was fatally stabbed in November was found during autopsy to have been in the early stages of pregnancy, according to investigators. Her mother has pleaded not guilty to murder and remains jailed in Contra Costa County, with a pretrial hearing set for February.
• Woman arraigned on charges of attempted murder, stalking of San Ramon teen (pleasantonweekly.com) — A Union City woman has pleaded not guilty to charges including attempted murder and stalking after a 17-year-old boy was shot and wounded in San Ramon last month. The case is being handled through Contra Costa County’s Bray Courthouse in downtown Martinez, and the suspect is currently held at the Martinez Detention Facility on more than $1.6 million bond.
