Aaron Hern Is Back In Martinez

The Boston Marathon bomb victim celebrates his 12th birthday today, as his family prepares to struggle back to normalcy.

The Hern family is home, and Aaron celebrates his 12th birthday today, which was his wish.

According to the Contra Costa Times, the Herns returned home Tuesday afternoon, with a note on their door to the media advising that they are busy taking care of business and trying to find some normalcy again in their lives.

After two bombs exploded at the Boston Marathon on April 15, in which Aaron's mother Katherine was participating, Aaron was badly injured and spent days in Boston Children's Hospital, undergoing two surgeries on his legs. During that time, he was visited by First Lady Michelle Obama and members of the Oakland A's.

Aaron's classmates and teachers at Martinez Jr. High, meanwhile, made him a get-well video, and there have been several fundraisers for him and his family.

Martinez Jr. High principal Helen Rossi said Wednesday that she will work with the Herns family to help determine what is best for Aaron when he returns to school.
