Are You Interested In Being A Commissioner?

Applications being accepted for several vacancies on city commissions.

There are seven vacancies on commissions and committees that the city is seeking to fill. If you have ever had the desire to serve on a city panel, now's the time.

Applications now being accepted for:

  • Civil Service Commission:
    Two vacancies for a four-year term; panel meets the second Tuesday of every month at 5:30 p.m., or as needed.
  • Design Review Committee:
    Two vacancies for a two-year term; panel meets the second and fourth Wednesdays of every month at 4 p.m. Members can be Martinez resident or qualified professional (architect, landscape architect or possess a certificate from the CA Nurserymen’s Association) who is familiar with the city.

  • Contra Costa County Library Commission (City representative); one vacancy, alternate —two-year term.  Meets quarterly at 7 p.m.; Pleasant Hill Library, 1750 Oak Park Blvd., Pleasant Hill.
  • Contra Costa County Advisory Council on Aging (City representative); one vacancy; meets third Wednesday of each month at 9:30 a.m. at 2425 Bisso Lane, Concord. Reports to the Martinez Senior Center.

Applications are accepted on a continuous basis for all commissions in the event a vacancy should occur, and remain on file for two years.

Residence within the corporate limits is a requisite for membership except where noted. Applicants may be interviewed by the City Council.
