Benicia-Martinez Bridge Crash Victim Is Identified

A man who died after crashing Sunday near the Benicia-Martinez Bridge, possibly because of a medical emergency, was identified Wednesday.

MARTINEZ - A man who died after crashing Sunday near the Benicia-Martinez Bridge, possibly because of a medical emergency, was identified Wednesday by the Contra Costa County coroner's office as Thomas Charles Jones.

The 52-year-old man was found unresponsive after a crash reported at 3:11 p.m. on southbound Interstate Highway 680 north of Marina Vista Avenue in Martinez, California Highway Patrol officials said.

CHP officials said the Fairfield resident allowed his pickup truck to drift into a concrete center divider several times before crossing multiple lanes of traffic and coming to rest on the right shoulder of the highway.
