Brush Fire Contained Near Martinez

Crews with Con Fire and Cal Fire responded to the blaze just east of McEwen Road, on the eastbound side of state Highway 4.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — Contra Costa Fire Protection District and Cal Fire crews responded to a 3-to-5 acre brush fire near Martinez early Thursday morning, according to fire dispatch. The blaze was first reported at 1:01 a.m. 1/4-mile east of McEwen Road on the eastbound side of state Highway 4, according to fire spokesman Steve Hill.

At least seven units responded to the scene and two more were requested.

The fire was burning on a medium slope and at a moderate rate of spread, Hill said. The blaze was reported contained at 1:41 a.m.
