City Of Martinez Issues Weather Advisory

With ​weather forecasts anticipating several more days of wet weather, the city of Martinez on Monday issued a weather advisory.

MARTINEZ, CA — At least an inch of rain has fallen in most of Contra Costa County within the last 24 hours, according to the National Weather Service. With weather forecasts anticipating several more days of wet weather, the city of Martinez on Monday issued a weather advisory.

According to AccuWeather's current forecast, rain was expected to begin tapering off Tuesday but is forecast to return to Martinez by Thursday.

The city said its Public Works Department regularly prepares for wet weather by clearing leaves and debris from street gutters and storm drains to prevent blockages.

"Residents can do the same around your property," city officials said, offering some other useful tips to help residents get through major rain events.

  • To report downed trees or large debris in the roadways or sidewalks, call the Martinez Police Department non-emergency line at 925-372-3440. Public Works will come clear it.
  • If you suspect the wind or rain has caused a hazardous situation due to trees or branches in close proximity to power lines or sagging power lines, call PG&E at 1-800-743-5000. They will send a technician out to investigate it.

  • Church Street (located in the church parking lot)
  • Rankin Aquatic Center (located in the upper parking lot)
  • Ferry & Allen Street
  • F Street (located at the west end of F Street off of Alhambra Ave)

"Please note you must bring your own sandbags or pick up empty sandbags in front of City Hall (in front of the Police Department lobby)," the city said.

"Also, please drive cautiously and build in additional time when traveling in wet weather."
