MARTINEZ, CA — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

This submission comes from Jill Penman who nominated her daughter, Gracie Penman, of Martinez.

How do you know the star local student?

I’m Gracie’s mother.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

Gracie has been committed to making a change in her community from a young age.
Gracie started her business when she was 11 years old to help support a local boy her age fighting cancer. He is well 🙏🏼.
And her business is thriving. She continues to donate a portion of all sales to community causes including Passion to the Streets; Martinez Animal Shelter; a local family in need and others.
What began as holiday sales with porch pick-ups and deliveries has grown to year-round sales in local stores and pop-up sales at times. We will always appreciate the promotional support of our local Martinez Rants & Raves Facebook page which helped spread the word.
Gracie is becoming a girl boss and learning so many life lessons. Her current goals include traveling to France and saving for college.
Please consider purchasing Gracie’s Tasty Dog treats for your fur friends.

Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Gracie Penman!
