Creek Monkey's Flying Oven
Tap house readies itself for opening by lifting appliances via crane.
Passersby on Escobar Street were startled Thursday to see an oven, a water heater and other major appliances flying by, as the crew preparing the opening of a new tap house/restaurant used a crane to lift them into place.
Jim Blair, owner of the Creek Monkey Tap House, directed the operation. The appliances were too large, and the gate to the back yard area, too small to carry them in by hand. So Blair hired a crane and hoisted them in.
Once opened, the Creek Monkey will serve at least 20 speciality beers on tap, including some made on the premises. It will also be a full-scale restaurant, focusing on locally-grown produce.
