Crews Stop Scenic Fire Near Port Costa
The vegetation fire had the potential to grow to 50 acres but crews battled it from the air and the ground and stopped its forward progress.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA β A vegetation fire Tuesday in Port Costa had the potential to grow to 50 acres but crews stopped the forward progress, the Crockett-Carquinez Fire Department said.
The Scenic Fire broke out around 1 p.m. Tuesday at Carquinez Scenic Drive and Reservoir Street. The blaze was 10-15 acres by 1:50 p.m. and was burning in steep terrain with difficult access.
Fire officials reported, however, they had the blaze boxed in with "retardant and roads" and "abundant" resources on the scene.

The Crockett-Carquinez Fire Department reported at 2:15 p.m. that forward progress on the Scenic Fire was stopped.
Crews were expected to remain on the scene for several hours.
