Democratic Party Collects Food Items At Martinez Farmers Market

The group is collecting donations for the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano.

MARTINEZ, CA — The Democratic Party of Contra Costa County will be at the Martinez Farmers' Market on Sunday to collect food items for the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano.

This year, the organization began collecting at its annual barbecue and has continued at the Farmers’ Market.

Donations can be dropped off between 10 a.m. and noon Sunday, Dec. 12, at the Martinez Farmers’ Market, 700 Main Street in the Plaza area.

The group is collecting non-perishable food items such as cereals, brown rice, canned vegetables, tuna and chicken (no glass containers, please).

"The need is great, especially with the COVID crisis and those displaced by fires," said Cathy McRoberts, a volunteer with the project. "People responded so generously on our first collection date in November, and we plan to continue."
