Dryer Fire Shuts East Bay Animal Shelter
BREAKING: The temporary closure came after the blaze occurred at Antioch City Animal Services.

EAST BAY, CA - A that fire broke out over the weekend resulted in the temporary closure of an Antioch animal shelter, but no animals were injured, according to a Contra Costa County Fire Protection fire captain.
The fire occurred at about 10:40 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21 at Antioch City Animal Services, located at 300 L St., fire Capt. George Laing said.
Firefighters responded and found smoke coming from inside the building. Firefighters were able to quickly put out the blaze.

Investigators determined the blaze began when a dryer inside the shelter caught fire, according to Laing.
The building sustained minimal damage and no injuries were reported, Laing said.

According to police, the shelter was closed the rest of the day as crews cleaned up the interior and tend to the animals.
