Giant Oak Tree Down On Marina Vista

One of the largest and oldest oak trees in the city fell over onto Marina Vista Thursday morning, blocking one entrance to the Amtrak Station and partially blocking Marina Vista. No one was injured, and no cars or buildings were damaged by the tree. 

Located next door to the Saints Motorcycle Clubhouse, the oak tree was a familiar site to downtown denizens and commuters. The tree broke near the bottom of the trunk. It is not known yet why the tree fell, said Public Works Director Dave Scola.

City crews were on site Thursday morning to remove the tree.
