Great Blue Heron: Martinez Photos Of The Day
This bird recently spent about a week in the Pinon Drive open space area of Martinez.
MARTINEZ, CA — Martinez resident Ron Bass witnessed something unusual recently so he decided to photograph it.
"The Great Blue Heron is mostly known to eat fish," Ron wrote in an email to Patch. "This particular bird apparently wanted to add to its diet. This Great Blue Heron visited the Pinon Drive open space for about a week. Its stay ended with the capture (and lunch) of a gopher."
He shot the photos May 8 with a Nikon D90 (450mm, f7.0, 1/800s) from his back yard in Martinez.
