BAY AREA, CA — With Christmas falling on Monday, there is still plenty of time this weekend to get out and see the Bay Area's dazzling holiday home light displays.

You should be in luck, as a report ranked San Francisco 16th among U.S. cities that decorate the most for the holidays. The 3rd Annual Christmas Decor Report analyzed the 30 most populous U.S. cities and determined Las Vegas was the No. 1-most decorated city. Among California cities, San Jose was 22nd and San Diego was 25th.

The report by Lombardo Homes also found that Americans were expected to spend an average of $140 this year on Christmas decor; thanks to inflation, that is nearly twice the amount spent in last year's survey ($82) despite two in three respondents claiming they were spending roughly the same amount.

As for the most popular holiday decoration in California, it is not lights, a garland or a wreath, but mistletoe, the report found. To find the most popular in each state and for Americans in general, Lombardo Homes studied Google search volume per capita. Here is what the analysis found.
