John Muir Health Foundation Honors Physicians, Community Members

The John Muir Health Foundation, the fundraising arm of John Muir Health, honored Dr. Kathryn Bennett of Martinez and Dr. Henry Fourcade and Guy Henshaw of Danville with the 2014 Award of Distinction on April 3 at the Diablo County Club for their outstanding contributions and philanthropic support for the John Muir Medical Center and East Bay community.

Bennett serves as the Chief Medical Information Officer at John Muir Health and is responsible for physician adoption to the health system’s new full-integrated health record, Epic. She served on the medical staff at Contra Costa Regional, Mt. Diablo and John Muir Health while running a family practice from 1976 to 1982 before moving to Abu Dhabi and running a practice for five years, returning to John Muir Health in 2007.

Before retiring in 2005, Fourcade served in various leadership capacities, including anesthesia department Chairman; Secretary Treasurer, Vice Chief and Chief of the Medical Staff of the John Muir Medical Center Board of Directors; and Chairman of the Medical Staff Council, QA committee and ICU committee. In his medical career as an anesthesiologist, he served in several positions providing outpatient services in Walnut Creek, Danville, Pleasanton and San Ramon.

Henshaw, a retired lieutenant colonel of the U.S. Army Reserve, has spent over 20 years serving on the boards of the John Muir Health Foundation, Mt. Diablo Hospital Foundation, John Muir Medical Center and John Muir Health. He spent the first 22 years of his career in the banking industry in the Bay Area and London and has been involved in volunteer opportunities devoted to education, healthcare organization and the U.S. military.

The annual Award of Distinction recognizes physicians and community members for their commitment and noteworthy contributions to the John Muir Health Foundation’s mission to provide philanthropy and leadership to its programs and campuses.
