Las Juntas Read-A-Thon Launches Today
Make your pledge and help a student practice the invaluable skill of reading.

Today is the birthday of beloved author Dr. Suess, and to celebrate the event, Las Juntas Elementary School is launching its annual Read-A-Thon. The event will take place all of next week as well, as the school celebrates Read Across America Week.
βOur students work hard every day, but they need to hear from their parents and family members about how important is to read every day,β said Aaron Tarzian, principal of Las Juntas. βThere's no better way to show support for their education than to pledge a monetary donation for their reading.β
Students will come home today with a pledge envelope, which are due to be returned on March 9. The pledge will be for the student to read even more than they do during a normal week. The money will go toward various activities such as field trips, books, software, teacher classroom supply money, and more.

βBringing attention to their reading practice will go a long way to creating a group of students who learn to love to read and become lifelong readers,β Tarzian said.β βCan you think of a skill more
important to learn in today's highly competitive job market?β
